![]() ![]() ![]() Hi all, I have come across something I find quite frustrating in Kyma. I observed this behaviour first at least one year ago, however now I have the Flame interface and I want to test recording 10+ tracks from a timeline it has raised its head again. I'm trying to record parts of a timeline using the disk recorder sound. I'm working on a PC at the moment, so I want to record as .WAV. In the disk recorder sound, I click on the various options to set 16 bit, Stereo and .WAV. Then I enter the filename using the usual disk button to set the path etc. One interesting things is that the file type drop-down menu doesn't allow me to set the file as Microsoft .WAV (compare this to the TAU, see below) When the file dialog closes, Kyma automatically sets the extension to .aif. This means that once the recording has finished and I shift-click the disk button, Kyma can not find the file. After taking a look at the recorded output files it seems they are being saved with the .WAV extension, it's just the disk recorder that is getting confused. However, one really annoying thing is that once the file is recorded and I go to try and play it by shift clicking the disk icon in the disk recorder sound, even though Kyma can't find the file and therefore it doesn't ever get played, next time I play the sound it re-records over the top of the existing file. Which has meant a few trashed recordings this week. Personally I think this aif extension is a bug and I would like to see it solved so that the handling of wav recording is a bit more normal. And wouldn't it be more logical to have the disk recorder sound at least ask for confirmation before recording over an existing file at compile time? Also, I have tried recording using the record button in the TAU editor and this works quite differently. For example, the file is created with the correct .WAV extension and more strangely there is the file type drop down menu to select Microsoft WAV as the file type. David Moss IP: Logged |
