if any of you are users of Digital Performer you may be aware of Audio Ease's incredibly cool Periscope EQ plug in.

it's basically a 30-band EQ with a global adjustment for bandwidth of the 30 bands. the 2 greatest features of Periscope, however, are its ability to completely cut bands (db range goes from something like + 24 to -infinity)... and, the fact that it has a real-time spectral analyzer built in, so you can see where your input frequencies are and where you may want to cut/boost.

i was interested in building a similar EQ using Kyma. kyma's UI won't be up to the task of a real time spectral analyzer superimposed on the EQ controls itself, but it probably would be up to the task of very narrow EQ bands that can completely cut a frequency.

any tips or advice of how to go about this before i actually start would be appreciated.. especially from those of you who may also have Periscope, so you know more of what i'm trying to get at.

As a starting point, try:
Kyma Sound Library>New for Kyma 5.20>New Filterbank
the Sound called Filiterbank as EQ

Not really because the *real* challenge is to control it in musically interesting ways

and, of course, modifying it ...

is there a way to take such a sound and have these bands be sent down different paths for individual processing?

The output is the mix of all the bands. You could modify the SyntheticSpectrumFrom Array though--either in the Amps and Freqs fields directly or by passing it through a SpectrumModifier.
