there is this function in sonic worx which is called remove envelope. it does something like normalizing EVERY sample.
not maintaining the amplitude relations of a certain amount of samples, as is usually understood as normalizing.
is there any idea how this would be done in kyma???

thx.m

I seem to remember that Scott Holden had figured out a way to do this. Maybe he could describe how to construct the Sound?

i´m not sure if i understand that. wouldn´t setting every sample to full scale mean something like dc current?

Maybe it´s more like extreme loudness maximizing. something a waves L1 or L2 would do with extreme setting.

yeah, its like maximizing, but i guess its not like compressing and making up gain.
i put 2 sounds, before/after processing, on this place: http://sm.xdv.org/kyma_sounds/
called scraper, and scraperRemove.
sonicWorx calles the algorithm "remove natural envelope"
i guess one could achieve it by inversing the data from an envelope folower as an input to gain. but maybe this is too easy...

well, as fas as i know... this *is* a compressor.
in fact it sounds like a completely overdriven L1 limiter. i would say try your idea and use no or almost no attack and release time (sample by sample, ideally). i´m pretty sure you get a similar result.
