Hi!

I recently purchased a Motu UltraLite Hybrid. It worked fine when I used it the first time. The next day it would not output any sound although Kyma is recognizing the interface.
I installed and uninstalled the drivers. Then for some time it worked again as expected.
After powering down all devices and restarting them, the interface does not output any sound again.
Also when using the AudioDesk software I once got the message "No Motu audio device was found" for some time (although the drivers were installed then). It worked as output device for the Mac for some time....

I also used other firewire cables with no success.

What could be wrong? The output indicators on the interface show activity when a sound is playing (only there is no signal on the outputs).
Is there an order when switching on the devices? Why would it work for some time and after restarting would not output any sound?

Any help appreciated!

Best wishes,
Franz

P.S. The only firewire port on the Motu is connected to the Pacarana, the Pacarana to the MacbookPro.
The Motu is powered with external power.

No, it is only connected via firewire.
Right now, I changed in the Mix menu of the Motu the "main output assign" from "main out 1-2" to "Analog 1-2" and now there is sound in the speakers.

Thatīs weird, because the speakers are connected to "Mains out" on the Motu.

While writing I changed the "Main Out Assign" back to "Main out 1-2" and there is still sound in the speakers.
Is there an explanation for this behavior? I feel uncomfortable to use this unit in live situations if this behavior continues.

Iīll post my further observations...

Franz, as an experiment, please do a factory reset on the MOTU.

Then, using only the DSP Status>Configure>Route Outputs in Kyma, route BOTH Main1 and 2 and Analog1 and 2 to Kyma channels 1 & 2 (by putting an X in columns 1 & 2).

Hi SSC,

it works fine for some time now, before and after the reset. I never touched the Kyma-routing (both Main and Analog1-2 adressed by Kyma 1-2 out) so I left it alone.
Hopefully this is it...

Thank you for your help!

Best,
Franz

Addendum:
Right now the Pacarana had difficulties to recognize the Motu interface. Restarting both of them solved it. However KymaControl seems to have troubles: the exclamation mark on the Configure-tab appears frequently although the Pacarana is recognized.

Perhaps the MOTU has not fully initialized itself by the time you start the Pacarana? I usually start the audio interface first and watch the front panel to make sure it is fully "alive" before starting the Pacarana.

Is this when you are first establishing the connection? Or does this happen after you have been using it for a while?

I usually wait until the Interfaces are fully powered up, but I'll be more attentive the next days!

The dropouts in the connection to KymaControl happened when the connection has been established for some time.
Yesterday the connection did not work at all, there was this exclamation mark even when KymaConnect displayed the Pacarana with it's address.

Best,
Franz

Are there other wireless devices in the vicinity that could be interfering with your iPad? Wireless microphones? Other WiFi hotspots? Theremins? Tesla coils? ;-)

A couple of things to try:

On your iPad under Settings>Wi-Fi, if you see routers that you know for sure you do not want to use, you can tap the blue arrow next to their names and then select "Forget this Network". That will ensure that the iPad does not try to connect to any router but the one you are using with the Pacarana.

You could (inadvertently) be running other apps that are trying to connect and interfering with Kyma Control, or your last session of Kyma Control could still be running. Double-click on the Home button on the front of the iPad to see which apps are running. Tap and hold and then use the minus sign to really quit all apps before starting up Kyma Control.

Please let us know what you discover. Thanks!
