Hi!

Today, OORT started to appear rather randomly, and on Sounds that I’ve made earlier and that were o.k.
even Samples that I usually normally use provoke the warning
DSP Usage meters do not show overload, in fact they are usually on 0, or in some Sounds barely visible
as I’ve said, it is random: sometime I can play whole Sound/Sample without the warning, sometimes OORT appear after a second or two
the sound briefly stops, an then continues ...
BUT!
when I disable (Silent Device) external audio card
- no more warnings while playing Sounds
so, could all that OORT be due to faulty external audio card ?

Kyma 7, with latest upgrade, Pacarana (8 gig RAM), iMac OS 10.6.8
M-Audio FastTrackPro

Thank you!

S

update, but not a happy one ...
tried with another external audio card, and OORT again
I'll connect my second Kyma device (Paca) in iMac, maybe is something wrong with the comp, HDisc or something ....

CloudBank-Resynthesis2.kym

update 2
so I connected Paca, and she worked fine until I
upgraded her firmware to the newest one ...
then OORT appeared
and
Pacarana is now connected to MacBookPro 10.8.5, latest Kyma, latest firmware,
and again warnings
attached Sound immediately goes OORT on both systems
?
thanks

and on both Kyma systems
all very random, I can’t find a pattern ....

please help!

Please start up Kyma. Play a simple Sound that gives you the OORT. When it happens, hold down Ctrl+Shift and select Status from the DSP menu. Then save a debug log. It will be called debug.qed in your Kyma folder. Please email it to us: support@symbolicsound.com

Hi Samuel,
I had a similar problem last year, and for me the problem was that I had inadvertently damaged one of the firewire ports at the back of the pacarana as a result of careless plugging in. Could be worth checking that they at least look OK.
Best,
Robert

Hi Robert,

it is nice to hear from you again!

Thanx for advice, but ...
yes, I’ve checked FW port (plugged Pacarana’s cable out, then back in),
and it seams to me that it is solidly connected,
plus
I have the same OORT problem on my other Kyma system.
Also, I checked that FW, then switched places of the machines -
plugged Paca to the Pacarana’s host comp and vice-versa
but to no avail, unfortunately ...
But I’m sure that K&C will find solution, hopefully soon.

It is wonder how one develops emotional link with this device.
Or not, counting how many hours of pure joy Kyma
brings to one’s life.
A least, to mine it did, so at the moment,
I feel like somebody in my family is ill.

Best

Good news, your patient is healthy again. An improvement we made in the last software update inadvertently introduced the problem you were experiencing. But now it has been fixed (and improved). We are testing it a few more days before uploading it and will let you know as soon as it is available!

Thank you for letting us know!

Dear Carla and Kurt,
surely, you’ve already heard from other people
all the praise I can say to you,
with my Tarzan-English vocabulary,
so I’ll just offer you a big and sincere
THANK YOU !
