I've finally gotten around to posting my patches (and the .pdf of my powerpoint presentation) on the Tweaky:
http://www.symbolicsound.com/cgi-bin/bin/view/Share/Sounds#Other

The sounds are pretty (and needlessly?) complicated, but they have copious annotations in hopes of explaining what they do. The .pdf maybe explains the why...

Thanks to Kurt and Carla (and Scott Miller, and St. Cloud staff) for a great symposium!

best,
Phil

Thanks for posting these, they seem to be too big to run on my paca, any suggestions for a less processor intensive version. Also, any plans to post some video from the lecture?

You might try reducing the numbers of the replications for the partial tracking and the numbers of oscillators/samples playing back. The first few might work if you do that. And the helper patches should definitely run.

I doubt they'll play on a capybara at all, except the helper patches. They come close to maxing out the Pacarana!

good luck.

There might be plans to post video from the conference somewhere, I'm not sure.

best,
Phil

Hi Phil,

thanks for posting these

I get an OORT error when I try to play Ex 4 and even after I use Ctrl+K to stop the sound the DSP Usage seems to continue to be high.
Initialising the DSP seems to be required to fully clear this out.

Any suggestions?

best regards,
Sean

Ok, great. Yeah reducing the replicator to 10 or 12 seemed to help out. Thanks!

Hi Sean,

I believe I get a message saying that the sound is out of real time when the sound first launches, but the sound plays anyway. Is this what happens for you, or are you not able to hear it at all? I hadn't noticed the thing about the CPU not going down after the sound is stopped.

I can't check it on my system for a few days.

Hi Phil,

After a time I get a few short bursts of sound (like a cell phone with very poor reception) while the OORT indicator flashes and this continued for as long as I ran the sound (a few minutes). I'm running at 48k at the moment, I will try 44.1 tonight to see if that makes any difference.

Thanks,
Sean

Yeah, I bet the sample rate is putting it over the limit - it was hard to get the processors balanced right on the last couple of sounds. Let me know.
