It has come to our attention that some particularly attractive, flat, orange FireWire 800 cables have appeared on the market that should NOT be used with your Paca(rana). These cables look really nice, but apparently they are not very well shielded. Please do NOT attempt to use them in your Kyma/Paca(rana) set up, or you will feel very sad (i.e. they don't work with Kyma).

We encountered these cables at KISS2011 and have also started getting additional error reports from the field. So it appears to be a consistent problem (not just one or two of them). So be forewarned, these cables are some 'bad acid', despite their somewhat cool appearance.

I actually have an few of these and have been using them with my Kyma for over a year. Could they physically damage the system or will they let me granularly resynthesize my local police RF? I don't recall having any problems with them so far but will certainly stay clear if it's going to fry my Pacarana

They won't fry the Pacarana. The ones we ran across were just unreliable. Maybe you have found some good ones.
