Hi everyone I am a brand new owner and I kept getting this message "The Paca is not responding. Unhandled firewire bus reset or a firewire error. (22)".

I have gotten this on both my mbps. One is lion the other is snow leopard. Mbp fw800 paca + motu traveller fw400. I have to turn off the paca and I am often getting a run out of dsp for realtime processing but the dsp meter is hardly even getting hit. The mbp (10.6.8) i use for this now is dedicated to kyma with no other software except safari running.
Do I need a different fw card with the ti chipset I have heard about?

Thanks in advance,
Jack

Hi Jack,

Is this happening all the time (have you ever gotten it to play)? Or is it in response to a specific Sound?

Are you using an express card for your FireWire port instead of the Mac?

Is your Traveller being powered from the wall outlet (that is recommended).

Are you using a MOTU Traveller Mk 3?

Hi,

It plays most of the time. No express card, traveller is version 1 buss powered. It does seem to crash using some of the keyboard morphing stuff. I do not understand why I get the spinning beach balls and th running out of realtime processing because the dsp meter is barely registering. The sounds will often stutter then.

We recommend using AC power on the MOTU (bus power is not always sufficient).

Once you switch to AC power, please do a factory reset on your Traveller.

(The out of real time message is probably due to your audio interface going into space and not responding, which looks to the Pacarana as if it ran out of real time).

The FireWire chipset built into the Mac is fine (no need to get an external card).
