Hi all,

I'm a new Kyma user, and so ask your understanding if I ask a bunch of questions in the coming weeks. This is my first post, and I apologize that it's a feature request, since I imagine that getting a lot of requests from someone who's only been using the system for a week can get pretty tiresome for the developers.

I would like the ability to program my own key commands for menu items (I'm on OSX). For example, it drives me a little crazy that there is a key command for "Hide others" but no command for "Hide Kyma X." I'm used to using command H to hide my programs, and it works for most OSX programs. [I know the response to this might well be "why would you be hiding Kyma anyway?", but sometimes I have legitimate reasons to go to other programs :-). I also know there's other ways to get around in the finder, but that's one way I get around...].

Overall it seems that key commands are pretty sparsely implemented, and I'd like to be able to do more with the computer keyboard. It seems like allowing the user to configure it would be the best way to do it.

It also seems like keyboard (meaning computer keyboard, not midi keyboard) input would be useful to interact with sound parameters, though I don't know if there is already something that enables that - I still have a bit over half the manual to read...

Thanks for your patience,
Phil

Command-H is used for Paste hot... (this is historical, it was defined many years before OS-X). Perhaps we should make it a preference whether Command-H means Hide Kyma or Paste hot...

That's probably not necessary. I'm sure I'll find the Paste Hot more useful than Hide Kyma when I get used to it. Thanks!

hi

i was reviving this post as i am hoping to find a list of key commands for kyma. i just purchased a contour designs shuttle pro and would like to implement it in kyma.

i am looking for details like : insertion markers, scrolling cmds, and the like (over and above the pull down windows cmds). i have just breezed through the manual and it seems possible to set the shuttle pro up to handle mutliple windows in each program so it's possible to create sets for each editor.

has a list of key strokes/ cmds ever been released/posted? i didn't find anything on the twiki

thanks

hello

i have a few questions about key cmds.

first : i there a way to increase the speed of the moving the cursor beyond on sample per keystroke (ie usng the arrows in the sample editor)? i hve tried a few strategies as this device allows for increased speed/ number of repetitions of the programmed keystroke , in my case on the jog wheel, but even the fastest setting is not very effective with large sample files.

second: i have programmed the shuttle pro to use the top row for modifier keys (cmd option etc) but the cmd modifier is not functioning properly in kyma. i have got these keystrokes to work in cubase but no luck in kyma' main window.

on that note is anyone using other applets for keystrokes - usb overdrive or the like that may have some insights into the matter.

fyi the cmd keystroke doesn't work with any of the standard key cmds from the pull down windows.

however, the arrows work as expected as does the tab key for toggling through fields and so does the cmd key, shift , option etc while clicking on the file selector in sample prototypes. so the keystrokes are being sent, as far as i can tell

thanks rafe
