Already there are a couple of clues on www.symbolicsound.com ("1. Caviomorpha rock! and 2. Count Branicki's terrible mouse").

Anyone wanna guess?

I'm pretty sure it's new hardware, and perhaps a smaller(!?) version of the Capybara, considering the rodent-related clues.

I guess it's a preset only hardware that is DJ oriented.
I heard they included a new talent algorithm so anyone can make interesting music

count branicki's mouse is "the second-largest rodent after the capybara" according to wikipedia.

hmmm.....i can't really imagine that this is about a box with *less* dsp than a basic kyma.

so if it is *smaller* than a capy, and doesn't have less dsp, it is likely to use different dsp's?

I think it's been about 10 years since the 320 was introduced, so whatever the new hardware(!?) is, it should in any case (pun not intended) involve some significant improvements in terms of CPU etc.

I've heard unofficial rumours that there will be an optional 'Hamster Wheel' for providing the device with power without the need for batteries or access to a mains outlet. The only downside is that it can only be used at night
Apparently a hi-power 'Caviomorpha Wheel' version may become available if the wind-noise issues are resolved.

Do you know if there will be an output to provide the power to a desktop computer?

yes, so I've heard, up to four 'Hamster Wheels' can be attached, thus allowing one to power a Laptop etc and providing wheel mobile audio - which can then be steered using OSCulator and a Wii!

The next update of OSCulator will add a new feature, the Rodent Control system, which enables you choose the speed of the rotating wheel.

Hmm, an espresso is certainly smaller than a regular coffee, so this new thing must be smaller than the Capy.

Is it perhaps an extension to the Capy? Or something that stands on its own two feet, like an espresso?!

This is like Murder She Wrote!

smaller than a capy, yet stronger (with more caffeine).

sounds good to me ;-)

Thanks! (all the sound comes from a recording of the espresso machine analyzed in Tau, combining some of the Sounds created by pressing the Gallery button in the Tau editor)

Perhaps it has nothing to do with a hardware release.....

Maybe an OpenCL savvy version of Kyma to supplement the 320?

Hmm. But the espresso isn't a supplement to coffee, it's something that exists on its own. So if your suggestion should be true, the analogy in the video wouldn't stand.

an OpenCL version of Kyma would make use of your GPU or free cores in the main processor.

But does an espresso free cores in the coffee?

Not really.

this must be the Monolith object from "2001: A Space Odyssee" (Dave Bowman: "There's Stars inside...."). In "2010", this object turns Jupiter into a secondary star (and it's moon Europa into a potentially habitable planet).

So what does this tell us? Maybe a "monolithic" CPU, meaning one giant processor instead of up to 28....? Now what kinda CPU would that be, an 8-Core intel or a teraflop NVIDIA? Thinking SOS NVIDIA vector stuff might just be extremely efficient...

Indeed, maybe a software version KYMA that will fully exploid such an 8-core system like the MAC PRO ?...So the 'computer of unknow provenance' meanse it's not SSC hardware. The picture of the megalith could be the shape of the MAC Pro ?....

Hmm, NAMM 2009 is on between 15. and 18. January.

I would think there's a good chance this New Thing will be announced there, or what?

Another hint out ... and it's Elusive, indeed.

However, lots of still images from live settings, so maybe this new thing is geared towards that particular area of use?

And I notice that talking bunny being repeated over and over ...

I noticed that a new clue was proposed after 2009.
So I first thought these coordinates were close to the pole . So far I know that the polar star is not exactly located at the 0°. Then I supposed the delta time was realted to something like a star magnitude variation but couldn't find that this particular star varies this way. I noticed this amount of days is approximately 17years in all (dividing with 365.25) .
I searched for something that would happen in 2026 and found out that a solar eclipe is to happen and the totality band seems to pass by the north pole moving south west ! See the nasa picture I propose as a link. This solar eclipe should be visible from Reykjavik.
http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/SEatlas/SEatlas3/SEatlas2021.GIF

2026 August 12 -- An unusual eclipse track that actually moves westward near the North Pole before swinging southeast over Greenland, Iceland, and Spain. Reykjavik, Madrid, and Barcelona are near the edge of the path, and Palma de Mallorca is near the centerline just before sunset.

So as a conclusion, when looking at the 'Riddle' picture, we must pay attention to that 'meeting' between the sun and the moon.
Also, since the 'totality' band of this eclipse will be visible from Greenland, I then conclued that the 'Glimpse' clue has something to do with particular glaciology project (Determining the controls on thinning at the periphery of the Greenland Ice Sheet.) : http://www.swan.ac.uk/geography/Research/GLIMPSE/GLIMPSEHome/

I was hoping it was as simple as the release date of this new thing being 12. January.

It's been going on for a couple of months soon, so I'm crossing my fingers we won't need ten clues.

12 Jan 1992 + 6210 days = 12 Jan 2008

tick, tick, tick...

Err... should be 2009

So it was the 12., then ...

Looks very nice, and very powerful. However, the price scares me. $3000 for the entry-level model?

Way too much for me, unfortunately.

There is no useful info on the insides as of yet, but considering a Mac Pro with 8 core processors costs $2800 this little puppy ought to pack some incredible processing power.

Oh well.

Congratulations SSC on your newest editions (additions?) and thankyou for all the hard work you have put in to make this happen.

I'm really, really looking forward to hearing some (more) examples of these new babies in full flight
