![]() ![]() ![]() Hi, just a thought. The Propellerheads REX format is free and a very easy format to read - just some extra info in the wav header. Importing rexfiles and reading the markers for spectrum files would make a fine addition to KYMAs capabilities. Not to mention all the rexlibraries out there - millions! Best IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Hi Magnus, I just went to the Propellerhead website to see what the format entails and it seems that REX has been supplanted by REX2(?) The new format, REX2, includes some proprietary compression. It seems that they license the reading (but not the writing) of these files. I wonder whether this means that the old format (REX) will be made public? How would you use the markers in the Spectrum Editor (in the sycnhronize Spectra option?) IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Hi, so you can implement reading the REX, RX2 files - but not the writing? I see - I use their program Recycle a lot - to add markers in my wav files. A really simple way to get hold of singular instances within a larger file - without having to chop it up. Goes really, really quick too - with lots of tools to perfect the chopping and to set the timebase of the file. I would use it to syncronize, yes - opening up rex/rx2 files (hopefully :-)to set up systems of interchangeable .spc loops. Best Magnus IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Hi Again, had to check regarding differences between REX and RX2. RX2 main difference is stereo - REX is mono. In RX2 you also have an envelope that stretches from one marker to the next - quite handy - and also a compressor and an eq. I guess this makes the RX2 file a little more complicated than the REX - but still, we implemeted RX2 in a plug of ours - and it was quite easy. Good SDK from Propellerheads. Best Magnus IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Hey I have wanted to use REX files for ages. I'm not sure what all is contained inside a REX file, but it would be nice if it were possible to extract or import the REX file marker and sample info to recreate the sample-chopped time varying playback using kyma sequencers. -- Sarthalicious IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Indeed, why not make the markers something you could adress, especially if you convert the rexfile to a .spc - wonderful! An Envelope to trigger on the marker and then just tweak whatever parameter you would like to assign, like timestretch that increases as you move away from the marker (the transients) Would be nice indeed IP: Logged |
