Author | Topic: Scaling long delays |
JohnCowan Member |
![]() ![]() ![]() I created a simple sound that included a 32 second delay. I then created a preset that started the sound with a the delay scaled to 1/32 (1 sec.) and it did not work at all ... until 32 seconds. After much fooling around I determined that when scaled, the delay must be using the last part of the buffer and that when the sound starts it must go through the entire unused part first before the delay works at all. Maybe knowing this will save someone a headache! John Cowan IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() John, if you uncheck the Prezero box, you will hear the scaled down delay time (in this case the 1 s delay). Also, if you check the Allpass box, you will hear the original come through immediately and *then* hear the delay after that. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I guess I always figured that the entire buffer was zeroed the instant the sound was started rather than at the sample rate. I don't detect any difference when allpass is checked vs. comb. In other words there is no original sound coming through. Odd! John Cowan IP: Logged |
