Dear fellowship,

I wonder if someone is familiar with a software called
"Argeiphontes lyre" by genius Akira Rabelais?
Since I´m on a PC I´ve never tried it, it´s for MAC only, but I´ve heard the most beautiful music made
by people using it.
I think it is possible to do something similar with Kyma,
is someone doing it?
Anyone in to this kind of sound/music?
Taylor12k?

Here´s a description from Akira Rabelais site:

A set of time domain audio filters and generators
Eviscerator Reanimator - chunk based file blending
Convolved Concatenation - chunk based convolution
Dynamic Reamplitudeuingly - probabilistic amplitude remapping
Time Domain Mutation - probabilistic timbral cross-fading based on morphologies
Time Domain Erosion - probabilistic distortion based on Fibonacci ratios
the Lobster Quadrille - probabilistic sound file playback engine.
Replacementedingly - file blending based on amplitude triggers
Dynamic FM Synthesis - realtime FM Synthesis

Thank you for a wonderful forum, though almost always a bit over my head,
and of course Thank you Kurt and Carla for an incredible piece of art - Kyma!
Looking forward to study "the Kyma x revealed".

/Jonas

hi jonas,

indeed i am interested in and creating this kind of music... i know akira.. he's a nice guy and has indeed created some fascinating software.. i have use Lyre many years ago, but never to much extent. if i recall, the processes were named very esoterically.. so i'm not sure exactly what he was employing.

maybe someone here has Lyre installed on their computer and can give us some insight as to what is going on. alternately, i could email akira and pick his brain..

I have the Argeiphontes Lyre, but have not yet used it extensively, either (I'm trying to leave OS 9 behind, but, the way things are going, I'm not sure that it's ever going to happen). At least some of the Argeiphontes Lyre's processes seem to cover similar ground to that of SoundHack, albeit with some interesting tweaks. Akira's approach is a little too "PoMo" for my tastes, though. Fewer Joyce-isms, coupled with more lucid naming of processes and better documentation, would result in a superior and more easily usable application, I think. Then again, it's freeware, so of course the author is free to do as he pleases!
