AIFF, WAVE, SD-I, and, on the Mac, SD-II.

ok, so there is no way to read akai, roland, emu and the likes.
anyway, if i edit a sound in, say peak, and give it a base pitch, will this be recognized by kyma?

Can't vouch for it but you might try:
2pat20.zip at http://hem.spray.se/joakim.slettengren/
It's basically a free/shareware sample file converter program. The readme.txt says it handles Akai, Roland, etc.
