Hi,

I was thinking it might be nice to be able to have changeable annotations within the VCS. This is how I imagine it:

A prototype called, say, MultiAnnotation, which has several text fields and a green field which allows you to enter code which must evaluate to a number which selects which text field will be displayed in the annotation space in the VCS. So you could have code which causes the annotation in the VCS to change every 5 seconds, or changes with the press of a trigger, etc.

For one thing, this would allow you to break up long annotations so they don't need to fill up so much space (I often use annotations to explain to myself how the patch works, but they get so long I don't actually have room to display them). It could also allow you to couple a label with another fader that changes a parameter. So I could have a fader that switches out samples that are playing coupled with an annotation that gives me the name of the sample that is currently selected by that fader.

Is this a realizeable idea? Is it something that could currently be accomplished with a script? (my guess is that it can't be done with script, but it could be done with a tool. But that wouldn't appear in the VCS...)

thanks,
Phil

good idea ... i second the notion! it would be really usefull if a new type of annotation widget could allow for a "new text message" that would appear with each preset stored in the vcs so you could leave independant notes for each preset, this way the window can remain small in the vcs.

i find myself leaving detailed notes in the annotation prototype for use in the sound editor then turning it off in the vcs so it doesn't interfere with the display but some kyma sounds have such a range of applications that having just relevant information about specific presets at would be a nice workflow improvement.

Do we have an official wishlist for the christmas ' 06 release of Kyma yet?

cheers
