Hey there,

Is there any new word on the expansion ports of the paca(rana) and what it might be used for?

Just I would check before spending the money on possibly expanding my modular next month

I was going to post regarding that article, because it mentions the planning of an AU wrapper... Was this information available anywhere else? I didn't see it anywhere?

Does this mean the Pacarana could potentially be used from within Logic (or other AU host) just with the firewire and/or ethernet connections, without the need for a separate interface?

Yeah, that would be nice!! And on a more mundane level it would be nice to save a bit of cash by ditching the extra Konnekt 48!

(already have one Konnekt 48 with my Logic Pro rig, linked up to the Kyma Konnekt 48 so presumably if this AU wrapper thing works out I could get rid of the Kyma one completely?!).

I'm a little surprised no has picked up on the second paragraph of the review:
"In the latest update, you can add extra DSP power by plugging in more boxes, to create an expensive but powerful planet-eating über-Kyma network."

I suspected the ability to agregate processors would be happening eventually but it's not actually mentioned in the "What's new in KymaX.x" notes on the download page.

SSC can you chime in on this?
Thanks

Damn! I think I have just seen what can only be described as Kyma porn

OK. More information please..
Can you mix and match? i.e. a Pacarana and two Pacas or simillar.

I notice the cables form a closed loop (and also that no firewire leads were visible but I suspect that was purely for the video ), obviously this is how the units are agregated. Is there a maximum number of units that can be agregated?

Thanks

Yeah I agree with that, the videos of multi-pacaranas are AMAZING! But maybe not that many users would be able to afford multiple units?? I dunno, I guess there are quite a few who can, but perhaps the majority of owners wouldn't be able to afford it...

More useful perhaps to the average user might be the AU wrapper thing which was mentioned in one of the reviews, particularly if it would enable direct communication with Logic Pro, so no need for a separate interface any more.

In the video that I saw there appeared to be three Pacaranas and three Pacas, hence the eighteen processors (4+4+4+2+2+2).

What most impressed me was that SSC had come up with a Sound that utilised all eighteen Processors. I find it hard enough to run out of steam with just four....

If you look carefully you can see one fire wire connection into one of the Pacas on the upper left.

I think the video is a working system?

I noticed they used the crossfilter with a big responce to fill up the system but I just can't see what the capture duration is. It's a bit fuzzy.

I suspect it will be a long time before I fell the need to link up a second one. It's just too much power. I thought I would never say that after the days of trying to do sound morphs with a capy 33.

I've only seen this on matrixsynth thus far - seems premature?

Never mind buying more Pacaranas for ourselves...with this expansion feature, and the uniting of Kyma users from around the world, it is designed for us to connect our Paca(rana)s together collectively, giving us a totally new and yet obvious take on the notion of "Networking"
