Hi all

I love using the overall system volume control available on the Mototmix - both in the studio and in performance. However, I am looking at leaving the Motormix behind when traveling for gigs (it's a bit heavy...) and so am wondering if it is possible to get at this overall system gain control in some other way? I realise I could put a gain object at the end of the signal path and make that controllable (from the Touch Strip on the Intuous3 would be cool if implemented) by a hot parameter, but I like the MotorMix inplementation as it means I don't need this kind of extra unit in the signal path of the patch.

The Output Pad in the Performance preferences is a level control. Could that work for you?

Hi
"(from the Touch Strip on the Intuous3 would be cool if implemented)"
My experience is that the Touch Pad it's a dangerous controller. It's very easy to touch it accidentally, specially in a live situation... can't imagine it like Master Volume... and more important you don't have a visual feedback, I think it's better the faders of MotorMix...

Hi all - thanks for your replies. I had assumed the volume control from the MotorMix was talking to the System Output Pad (available under preferences), as it was an overall control - I use this in the studio (having my active monitirs pluged directly into the Capy) and in performance to vary the overall output of the Capy, and fade down at the end of a set. I like the fact that this is a 'Master' controller - I have implemented a Gain module with the !PenY, and this works quite well, b ut I am attached to the control available from the MotorMix, and would like not to have to carry the MotorMix when going to do gigs interstate as the freight limit when flying is very small in Australia. Whilest I can use the preference option to pad the output, I am really looking for a realtime option.

I like this tool a lot.

I have two comments: it doesn't take the level all the way to zero (it should), and I'd like to be able to map it to a MIDI controller.

Hi Kurt et al...

I set up for a gig last night and used the master gain control - awsome... Thanks. I found that I wanted to set it at different levels for different pieces as the PA had characteristics I had to adapt for... This left me thinking... Could the OutputLevel.pci have a scriptable hooks so that at the start of a piece, one could send a value to it to set the master gain. This is a bit like setting Continuous Controllers at the beginning of a MIDI file, but it would mean that the gain relationship between pieces could be tested in sound check and then scripted for the gig so it was one less thing to think about when compiling on stage. Having the control during sound check from the tool is wicked and being able to fade down etc is alos great - thanks a lot.
