At the risk of sounding like a heretic, I have to say that I've found a really useful resource for sound design in "The CSound Book". I've already translated some sounds from CSound to Kyma, and there's a lot of detail (i.e. working code) in there about emulating DX-7's for those so-inclined.

I don't use CSound, but I too have found the documentation of algorithms in the CSound book very useful.
