![]() ![]() ![]() Does anyone have any tips on cutting down the noise from disk drives? Putting my computer in a "machine room" is not an option for me as I am in a small apartment. Are there any kind of sound isolation boxes made? Or could I make one myself? Or would some strategically placed acoustic foam do the trick? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Modern hard drives are usually fairly quiet, more often than not the noise is actually from the power supply fan. If this is the case, and if you have a Wintel machine, you can drop the noise level a lot by installing a quiet power supply. I have had good results with these folks: http://nwccomputers.com/silent.htm IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Hi Fake, A company called Silent Systems Inc (www.silentsystems.com) produces a line of "thermal-acoustic" products which include ultra quiet fans and HD kits which reduce the drive's noise level and actually cools them at the same time (great for those 10/15,000 rpm drives). Hope this helps IP: Logged |
