![]() ![]() ![]() Question(s) about "thresholds" I have a TimeLine with several tracks that process a single solo instrument. All are dependent on "thresholds" for following the performer. What I *think* I would like to have is only ONE !Threshold fader to worry about for all the soloist's input into the Timeline, instead of the four I currently have. Is there a way to create a master "!Treshold" fader? But then I also wonder if I'd be losing some significant advantage by having separate "!Threshold" faders, even if for now (during the testing phase of this project) it seems like I will be fine with all of them being set to the same value. If you have experience with this sort of live performance set-up, I'd be interested in your thoughts. Wish me luck. First rehearsal with performer is tomorrow (Wednesday)!
My TimeLine also has a "WaitUntil" ... used as "pause button" ... so that the timeline doesn't start playing until the live performer starts playing. However, I was surprised to learn that my SoundToGlobalController modules used to automate parameter changes go right to work immediately. So ... while the TimeLine is sitting paused at 00:00:00:00, the VCS fader automation has already begun. (Also, the VCS fader automation continues long after I stop playback of the TimeLine or Sound.) Anyone know why that is so? Anyone know a way, short of adding a whole bunch of "WaitUntil" sounds to stop this from happening? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() "Anyone know a way to stop this from happening?" Position the WaitUntil before the first Sound starts (and not overlapping the first Sound). Then you can trigger it to start when the performer starts playing. For the master threshold, there's a step-by-step description on page 81 of Kyma X Revealed. Or just open Kyma X Revealed from the Help menu in Kyma and do a search for 'Master'. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() "Position the WaitUntil before the first Sound starts (and not overlapping the first Sound)." OK ... I now see that what you are suggesting does indeed solve this minor problem. However, it causes the whole timeline to drop out of realtime ... which is a major problem. [Note: As usual, I am running on the knife edge of that anyway. (Status window always says that I "may" have run out, but it doesn't ... until I move all the main timeline tracks to start *after* the WaitUntil sound ends.] It's still puzzling to me why those automated VCS faders are so independent of the start/stop. Even in the case of a single Sound, when I "kill" the playback, the faders keep moving until they have cycled through their sequence. Also, those faders also start moving if I do "Compile & Load" w/o play. (I'd thought maybe that would be a good solution for me in this case.)
Thanks! I was going to look into the whole "promote to master" approach. I think that would be a good approach, but not having any real experience in this realm, I wasn't sure if it was the best one.
