Hi,

I just finished adding a couple more Sound blocks to an already large system of Sounds and it apparently crossed some magic barrier. The system is now slow-as-molasses to update the Sound editing window on scrolling, bringing up sound blocks for parameter editing, and so on.

This system now fully loads 10+ DSP's (and no, sorry! - I can't send it to you as it is very proprietary). I wonder if there is some system setting I can alter to make the system behave more snappy again...

Also, how do the folks with 24 DSP's get on with editing? Is this slowdown an anomaly with my particular complex-sound system, or is Kyma known to run into this kind of thing on very large sound canvases?

Thanks,

- DM

Is this only when the Sound is playing? (You can check this by hitting Control+K and seeing if scrolling, etc. is faster.) If so, this could be caused by using a large number of simultaneous separate DiskPlayers (or GenericSources with the source set to Disk).

No, the sound is not playing at that time, and there are no (or very very few) sound files in use. It seems to be related to redrawing the trees. I tried using the tiny icons to see if that would help, but it doesn't. I seem to have crossed some magic barrier in the tree handling algorithm.

Well, I'm not sure that my voice adds to the signal or to the noise but you've got me intrigued...
Can you recross the "magic barrier" to fast displayland by deleting Sounds? If so, can you build a dummy example (with lots of Sounds but without proprietary info) that you could send to the Symbolic Sound folks?
