Author | Topic: bpm in Timelines |

![]() ![]() ![]() I have a Sound which uses "1 bpm: 60/!speed" to trigger a function generator. This works fine. I can stop and restart the Sound and everything behaves as expected. I dropped this Sound into a Timeline, and found that it only worked correctly the first time I ran it. After some investigation (with SoundToEvent objects) I discovered that bpm continues to run even when the Timeline is stopped. This was unexpected and seems wrong to me. When I "rewind" the Timeline and replay it, I want to get the same behavior each time. Any suggestions? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() You are right about the metronome continuing to run while the timeline is paused -- this is on our list to be fixed. However, when you shift+space or control+space to rewind and play, the metronome is reset to the same state each time. [This message has been edited by SSC (edited 24 April 2001).] IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() quote: This may be, but the metronome (BPM) is triggering a FunctionGenerator. Apparently pressing "Play" in the Timeline also triggers the FunctionGenerator. So, unless I hit "Play" at exactly the right moment, the first cycle of the FunctionGenerator will be cut short when the next BPM event occurs. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Can you email us a simple example showing this happening? Thanks! IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() quote: Ah, yes. You are correct. The behavior of "control+space" IS different from "space, rewind, play" or "control+<-, control+->". I couldn't find this documented anywhere - was it added in an update? (BTW - Thanks.) IP: Logged |
