Hello! I oftenly encounter Pacarana/ firewire crashes if i try to play a sound that demands too much DSP power.
Kyma gives an error-message about firewire problems, and it can't connect to pacarana anymore, asks me to reload. This doesn't work, also if i restart kyma again, pacarana is not found. On the display of the pacarana the small asterisk stands still and i have to shut it down manually to have it working again. Is this more or less normal behavior?
Heat problems can actually not be the reason for this since i use an additional cooling unit. Thanks!

Don't know if this will help you but I had very similar problems and it ended up actually being the firewire cord which was marginal. It was the factory burly looking cord too.

I never believed such a cord be the problem, but swapping it out fixed my issues.

You're issue may be unrelated but it's worth a shot. Firewire issues definitely cause a lot of headache. Since I've solved mine, the pacarana is totally solid now.

Speaking of Firewire cords, are there better brands than others? In truth, I often purchase them without any real knowledge of their quality or the reputation of their manufacturer.

I believe that I've had this same issue - a DSP spike causes the Pacarana to lose the connection and I have to restart (it happened to me this afternoon). Unfortunately, it usually seems to be non-repeatable, and the sound seems to work fine afterwards (at least that's how it happened today).

Sorry, I know it's impossible to fix a bug that's not reproducible. If I find a sound that does it consistently I'll send it along.

Thats exactly what Happens to me once in a while.. and since i often work on timelines combining dsp hungry Sounds, it actually Happens Quite often. But As phil Said its Not really reproducable until now..
