Old news but really wanted: direct data flow between max & kyma. There must be a bunch of us waiting for this. If only I had the needed C skills I could maybe have a more active role in the development, but alas.

A direct interface to Kyma requires that Symbolic Sound make the driver information available to 3rd party developers. I have been asking for such support for some time, to put direct control of the Capybara into my SoftStep software. Always I am told, "Real Soon Now." My plans for a direct interface to SoftStep are now on indefinite hold, with more extensive MIDI support implemented in its stead.

Although some of the real time issues really need the direct interface, since Kyma and Max (and now SoftStep) all have extensive and flexible MIDI support, MIDI control works fairly well in most cases.

Here is a quote from a post we made last February (this offer still stands):

"We used to have this working with an old version of Opcode Max (2.0?). We would be happy to donate the Max object source code to anyone who would like to rewrite (and support) it for newer versions of Max."

Any volunteers interested in taking on this project and its support?

As I wrote in the first mail, my skills in code handling are so minimal that it would take me ages to work your Max code up to the current Max version. But I would like to try. With the help of my programming teachers I could dive into it. A collective users effort would speed it up?

SoftStep is a Windows program. Any realistic timetable on when and if similar support will ever be made available for Windows developers?
