I am curious if there are any plans to make the RME fireface 800 a supported converter for Kyma. I currently use M-Audio's firewire solo, but would much rather use my RME.

hello

i spoke with ssc some time ago asking if there was any possibility of rme support for the paca /rana and the problem is rme uses proprietary technology for their data bussing which (if i understand correctly) doesn't conform to the typical fw protocols. As a result of their unique coding it would be very difficult to implement rme support without their consent and information on their specification/ protocol. One of the users had even contacted rme (usa - if memory serves?) to see about obtaining that information on ssc's behalf but didn't get very far with their management.

A way to generate interest from them is perhaps a group buy but we are a relatively small user base. im not sure how many units of sales we could generate or how many it would take to pique their interest. if any of the ssc user base has connections with rme's head office and would like to take on the task ... !

I use m-audio fast-track as Kyma audio interface - but optical cable goes from m-audio to fireface (400 in may case)
so I guess I stay digital all the way to rme D/A converters ...
or I guess wrong?
