hi all,

I have some nice OKM, Soundman mics see http://www.okmmicrophones.com/NN/okmhome.html
which go in my ears and provide some excellent sounds. I am interested to decode these recordings to create a good stereo image for loudspeaker playback. Obviously I need to calculate a HRTF for my own head (anyone know how to do this?), but i am wondering of anyone has created a Kyma patch to do the binaural to stereo convertion?

Hi Garth,
I've just been clearing up some old papers and found an article in the November 1982 edition of "Wireless World" that discusses this... it provides circuit diagrams for binaural-to-speakers and speakers-to-binaural conversions. But like anything at that time, it used phase shifts rather than high quality time delays - I think we could do a better job nowadays. I'll have a look at it over the weekend and see if I can work out something constructive.
Regards
Dave

There are a few examples of creating a stereo illusion from a mono sample in the Kyma Sound Library. The examples include ones that just change the signal power and ones that include inter-aural delays.
