Hi

Is just to share Gregory Taylor Max5 patches "The Zen of the Silent Patch"
For me it was a more intuitive way for "instrumentalizing" parameters in Kyma.
As a Max programmer is the best of two worlds: mapping information on Max and computing audio on Kyma.

that's really interesting, i've also been composing in max and processing in kyma for some time now. At the moment i try to do everything within kyma, since, of course having everything in one system is much more handy, and also composing and processing is actually really hard to divide into two seperate things. I'm interested what your reasons are for you decision to do the information mapping in max, if i may ask. I decided to do so since i just come from there(max), and it's easier for me that way. Also i wasn't and i'm still not sure if i can do "everything" in kyma i can do in max. Thanks! patrik

Hi Patrik

The reason for me to choose Max for generating parameters in Kyma is that I´m too slow programming in CapyTalk and as I came from Max it´s my natural habitat. These Gregory LFOs it would be a pain to program in CapyTalk. The important is not the tool but the idea.

Many thankx for your reply

Good article. I'm a big proponent of being able to connect environments together and use the tools that you feel the most natural with.

Luckily the last 2 years have been good years for both MAX and Kyma. Kyma has OSC support now and it's just so easy to connect the two together both at the control and the audio level.

I enjoy both environments for different reasons. It's fantastic to be able to connect them.

Hi bar|none

Thanks for your reply. Kyma is so deep in terms of sound design and Max is so elegant in dealing with information that the G point would be when a cool Max patch is generating parameters for a cool Kyma patch and you have two deep worlds very elegant and efficient connecting each other.
An artist should be inspired by tools like these.
In my working experience as a sound designer I should thank David Zicarelli, Miller Puckette and Carla Scaletti for their work inspiring mine.

It makes sense to use whatever tools you feel comfortable with, but I wouldn't want to leave people with the impression that it's difficult to make these kinds of LFOs in Kyma.
http://www.symbolicsound.com/Share/Sounds#Control_and_Modulation

Sound is called LFOsCtrlPitchSequences.kym

These aren't identical (I started from the article but then diverged in ways that you'll see when you look at it). Enjoy!
