Hi Kymmunity
The Reverbs available in Kyma sound realy nice! But i was wondering if
somebody tried to implement a Reverb based on "Feedback Delay Networks"?

I read that the Quantec Yardstick is based on FDNs and it sounds really nice and realstic to me.

I found a implementation for Reaktor here: http://co.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=userlibrary&type=0&ulbr=1&plview=detail&patchid=7118

I was wondering if it is possible to port the Reaktor Ensemble or if there is already a "Kyma Sound" with a similar realstic reverb sound?

Any ideas?

All the best
Chris

Hi Christian

Try this link

Reverb Body Plus.

It's purely delays with feedback.

Thank you Pete for your answer!

A reverb build with FDNs sounds much different then a reverb build with classical "delays". The idea behind a reverb build from FDNs is to simulate the vibrating and resonating "air" in a room.
Some Kyma reverbs based on resonators come close to this idea too... but sound a bit too "two dimensional" to my ears. Very good for solo instruments but not as nice as a "yardstick" for example..

The principle behind a classic "delay based" reverb like "Reverb Body Plus"(which sounds more like an special FX too me) or most of the algorithmic hardware and plugin reverbs available today is to simulate the reflextions in a room ...

I am looking more into the first kind of reverb... simulation of vibrating air with FDNs in a ROOM... you can think of it a bit like a kind of physical modeling "room simulator" ...

I thought that maybe somebody in the kyma community already programmed something like a virtual Quantec QRS or Yardstick...because the hardware unit QRS is around since the 80th ...

The Yardstick is very popular in the mixdown of classical music...

In comparison to convolution reverbs the "room simulation" method sounds more dynamic and organic but still very "real".

Anyway many thanks for the link! Maybe you or someone in the forum is interrested in starting a small cooperation to create something sounding as natural and as good as the Quantec Yardstick for the kyma community.
As you can see from my previous post someone has allready done the Reverse Engineering for Reaktor.

All the best
Chris

Hey!
I've done a fair amount of reverb prototyping in Kyma.
You might find the "TEverb" reverb interesting. It's available for download on the Symbolic Sound Twiki site. It's fairly heavy on DSP, but well worth it.

Comes both as surround and stereo versions.

Cheers!
Tobias

Hi Tobias,
i already tweaked and used your reverb in some of my sounds and i really like it!
It is very musical sounding!

Have you ever used a Quantec Yarstick..? i know it is not so known in the US.
I really would like to implement something like it in Kyma. So if nobody has ever tried it yet... I will go for it. Any help is appreciated.

all the best
Chris

Hi Christian, Do you know whether it is based on one of these structures?
