Is there a way to control the overall output level with MIDI?

I thought I remembered seeing a way to do this, but I can't seem to find it.

You can use the universal sysex master volume:
http://www.symbolicsound.com/cgi-bin/bin/view/How/SendMasterVolumeControl

It is also available on the MotorMix rotary and from the Tools menu.
