I recently installed Kyma on a windows XP computer and I had a couple of bumps while doing it, so I wanted to make sure I did it correctly.

When I when first got the new hardware dialog box, windows couldn't find the drivers and so consequently when I launched Kyma I got the error message saying 'Please make sure Pacarana is connected to computer...' So I went to device manager and this time navigated windows to the Kyma.app folder and this time windows was able to load the drivers. Now I have 4 Kyma icons under SBP2 in device manager; a firewire event port, a firewire flash update port, a firewire interface, and a firewire plug-in services. Is this what I should be seeing?

Last question, there are 2 Kyma icons in the Kyma x.app / Windows folder. One is Kyma X, and the other is Kyma X No SSE2. When I double click the Kyma X icon, I get an error / crash message. However when I double click Kyma X No SSE2, Kyma launches with no problems. Is this the correct behavior?

It sounds like you have installed it correctly. If the No SSE2 version works, that is the one you should use, because it is compatible with your hardware. Thanks!

For future installations (and for others planning to install Kyma on a Windows machine), there are two Visual Basic scripts that make it easy to install the drivers and create desktop shortcuts. The scripts are in the KymaX.app folder. To run them:

Before turning on or connecting your Paca(rana) or Capybara;
In the Kyma Folder, go into Kyma X.app
Double-click InstallDriver.vbs
Follow the instructions in the wizard to install the driver
Making the Desktop Shortcut
In the Kyma Folder, go into Kyma X.app
Double-click MakeDesktopShortcut.vbs

We'll move that up higher in the tweaky so it is more noticeable when you first go to install Kyma.

Thanks!

Thanks very much. BTW - I am using a M-Audio Firewire Solo as my audio interface. I know on your audio interface compatibility page, it states that 'The Firewire Solo is expected to work under Windows but has not yet been tested.' It's been working fine for me.
