example.zip

hello,

I have sent an email about this issue, but got no reply.I guess the forum is a better place to ask this question anyway.

here it is : Almost everytime when I start up Kyma, all the sounds that utilize .spc files, roughly anything that uses morphing (except Tau, tau works ok) have an almost distorted, noised up sound.Almost like someone intentionally set up a "global" parameter in spectral analysis to all the wrong values that would distort the sound.Obviously that cant be done (at least to my knowledge !) and the other reason is if I randomly restart the program, all of a sudden it goes back to normal.

it also happens quite alot (though the two cant be 100% effectively reproduced, so I cant say they are linked) when I launch kyma, that windows sounds, and other media (mp3s, youtube, whatever) has damaged quality.

provided is a .wav sound of the distorted example of the sound morph carla to dominic

any ideas?

regards,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

It almost sounds as if Kyma might be finding a different (shorter) Sine table than its internal wavetable (which is 4096 samples long).

In your Frequently Used Folders (Edit>Preferences), do you have the Kyma folder as a Frequently used folder? Do you have some other folders in there as well? Do any of them have an AIFF or WAV file named 'sine'?

You could also try searching for a samples file named 'sine' and, if you find a short one, ensure that it is not in any of your frequently used folders.

Please let us know your results. Thanks!

yes !! incredible, it was exactly that.A sine.aif file at 2296 samples was used in the wavetable from the Waves folder.I have found a sine32.aif folder in kyma x.app which is 4096 and selected it for the wavetable and voila, the sound is clear as the winter sky.

should I replace the two sine files, or just save any warped morph I have with the sine32 from the kyma x.app folder ?

sincerely,

Andrew

Sine.aif

Sounds like your copy of the sine.aif in the Waves/Waveforms folder has become corrupted somehow. Please trash it and replace that file with the attached Sine.aif.

Thanks!
