![]() ![]() ![]() Hi SSC, All, I've been checking over some features in the new Kyma release and playing around with MIN and MAX prototypes. While doing so I stumbled across something quite odd which I've managed to resolve but it did have me scratching my head for a while. I set the Initial Memory Size for Kyma to 256 meg and without thinking much more about it continued to explore. During exploration I noticed an issue with the behaviour of the Formant parameter in the Oscilator prototype - when using it with the Duty expression suggested in the parameter help the results were not like they used to be. Instead of a linear PWM effect with the full waveform playing at Duty = 1, becoming more Pulse like as Duty gets toward 0, the Duty function appeared to have been 'warped' it was not playing the full waveform at Duty = 1, what was happening at Duty = 1 looked like what I would expect at Duty = 0.7, the full waveform was playing at Duty = circa 0.7 and as the Duty parameter moved toward zero further discontinuities occured in a kind of 'three steps forward' and then suddenly 'two steps back' manner. Wierd. Not how I remembered this parameter working at all. Then I recalled I had made an alteration to the Initial Memory Size parameter but had not subsequently restarted Kyma. I restarted Kyma and the Duty behaviour returned to normal. So perhaps a cautionary tale - If you are changing the Initial Memory Parameter, best to reboot Kyma at that point for those changes to take effect. Regards, IP: Logged |
