![]() ![]() ![]() Hello, I think this question has already been discussed, but I can't manage to find it back. I hope to find a reliable and compatible FireWire ExpressCard, do anybody has suggestions for me? Garth, I think you've had some experience with ultra small notebooks …

![]() ![]() ![]() Hi Cam Yes indeed I have used the VAIO and have an eeePC at the moment, but only use my PowerBook Pro when working with Kyma as I did not find the others fast enough. I have not used a FireWire ExpressCard, but would also be interested for advice on ones running under OSX. Cheers, Garth IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() There was a discussion about this recently on Create Digital Music: http://createdigitalmusic.com/2008/11/14/expresscard-firewire-that-actually-works-for-audio/#comments Basically, you want one with a TI (Texas Instruments) chipset. The FireWire ports on my MacBook Pro blew out recently, and I started out with a Sonnet FireWire 800 ExpressCard/34 adapter (manufacturer part # FW800-E34) as a replacement, and had terrible problems with it, including Kyma regularly losing its connection with the Flame interface. (I haven't been able to determine its chipset.) I swapped it for a Belkin FireWire 800 ExpressCard adapter (manufacturer part # F5U514), which definitely has a TI chipset, and it's worked flawlessly so far. IP: Logged |
